Oh yeah! One other thing...I noticed in one of your pics that you were trying a Nuby cup. I know every baby is totally different, but Simon still can't drink out of those. Have you ever tried it? It's really tough! I've found that the hard plastic ones have a better flow with less work from them...so you might try a few different ones to see if he has a preference.

Sorry! Just thought I'd add that last touch of advice! Ha! :)

I am lovin' your blog updates!! So happy for you! :) I want to encourage you that I really think you guys are being so wise focusing on bonding with Harrison, and being careful to limit his exposure to others and such. I just think you are wise wise wise!!

Regarding meat baby foods, I never have given Simon very much meat, period. He gets most of his protein from yogurt and cheese. But especially if you're concerned with his iron, I think you could puree some red meat for him. I buy honest-to-goodness STEAK! Ha! I slow cook it in water or broth, then just put it in the blender and puree it. I make big batches of everything and freeze it in ice cube trays. Then at mealtime, I just choose a few cubes and microwave. It does take a LOT of water to get a good consistency with meat! ...I've made some interesting combinations...beef and sweet potatoes, beef and cheese, beef and rice...on an on! :) I have a GREAT little baby food cookbook if you're interested. It has super fun, fancy things like...smoked salmon and orange sauce! Hee hee! But it really opens your mind to all the great foods you can give your baby, you know?

We didn't do baby food meat. Ever. With either of the girls. It's nasty, looks gross, smells horrible and no. I did buy meat sticks once... they are probably still in the pantry. Ugh.

Anyways - there's no spoiling babies. My kids slept with us when they were little. Awesome for bonding and a super bonus for sleepy mommas! Also - don't listen to what other people throw at you! Everyone has an opinion. You are doing something wrong to someone! Just make sure you're doing right by that little sweetie pie Harrison and all will be GRAND!

So two things...I never could do the jarred baby meat either. I tried once when my niece was a baby and that stuff is nasty. Jacob just didn't eat meat until he could eat table food meat (our pediatrician didn't have a problem with this). Also, The Dr. Sears baby book has a great section on attachment parenting. I will bring it over for you to borrow when I bring food Monday!

I ama mum of three and a before i hsd them i was a nanny.

I credit myself on my children have never eaten a jar or packet of baby food.

I started with the vegetables and later moved onto meat.

You can boil a chicken breast add veg and water (NO SALT) and then puree (or mash as hes bug enough to cope with lumps)after and freeze....

You can make a beef casserole the same way. You do not have to feed meat sep like the jars but incorporate the whole thing together.

I have enjoyed following you journey! Do not feel bad about co-sleeping!! Do it for as long as you want to. Just do what feels right for you and your family and don't let anyone or any books make you feel guilty. Most other cultures co-sleep with their babies, it is just normal. But our Western culture wants to separate our babies from us from day one, and I believe we see the direct result of that with some of the emotional issues children will have. Keep that baby close to you and help make night time a comfort to him. You will have a very secure and well adjusted child as a result. :)

Oh and by the way.....you can NEVER spoil and adopted child just brought into your home. It is our responsibilty to meet their every need the second they have it. It is part of the bonding process (obviously you already know that). It is how Harrison learns you are ALWAYS there for him! It's a special thing--don't let anyone tell you any differently!!
