I don't know the ends and outs of adoption and the whole process with the attachment thing that I'm sure you've been trained in and know from the experts. But I do have a baby that turned 11 months today and she spent some time in the NICU at birth and then later in the PICU after a major surgery. I must say that I wanted no one to hold her except me. And when I say no one I mean just that, not my husband, not my own mother, and certainly not my mother in law. I guess I'm saying that to say that even though Harrison is your's, and he is all your's as evident by the look on both your faces in these pictures, the whole not wanting to pass your baby around thing is a "mommy" thing, too! So good for you for enforcing what you feel is best for your little guy. He is too sweet and cute and your story gives me chills. I didn't start reading until you posted about your baby shower and then the next thing I knew, ya'll were off to the other side of the world, and your story has given me chills. Especially the whole part about how you've just adopted because you've feel the Lord calling you to do so, not because you can't have any of your own. Such a sweet story and such an awe-factor to those of us on the other side of the computer. Thank you for sharing!!! You've done a great thing for humanity and I think you are probably right just from the pictures, that you and your husband are recieving just as big a blessing as Harrison is. Again, thanks for sharing and sorry for rambling. Guess that's what happens when you lurk and don't ever comment! haha! Happy Turkey Week to your new little family!

Right after we got home with Xan, a lady at church...

Right after we got home with Xan, a lady at church asked if she could hold him and I told her she could but that he may want me right back. We ended up waking him up at the time we wanted him to get up to get him on a schedule. He got tired so easily he needed 2 long naps a day and was sleeping like a rock by 7:30!

It IS so hard to turn people down when they want to touch and hold your new baby. Church and family gatherings were the hardest. The grocery store was also a place for us that people wanted to touch Owen so I put him in the carrier instead of the seat at first b/c people were less likely to touch him then! You are doing the right thing by waiting. Even though Harrison was with just one or two people, he still has to learn who you are and that you are not replaceable the way you have replaced his nanni(es)! I know with Korea we have been told to wait 6 weeks before anyone else holds Lily so she can transfer her attachment to her foster mother to us. I hope your family and other friends will respect your decisions! As Jim would say, we've got your back! :) 6 weeks (or however long--as you know, for Owen it took forever b/c his past was so different than Harrison and Lily's!) is such a short time in the grand scheme of things!

Hope you have a wonderful time at church tomorrow with your new bundle of joy!!! You are simply glowing in your pictures with him!! He looks like he is the happiest little baby boy on the planet. He was meant to be yours, friend. :)

Lots of love,
Adrienne

AWWW he is so precious!! i'm so sorry i didn&#...

AWWW he is so precious!! i'm so sorry i didn't keep more in touch & see what was going on! but i am so thrilled you have him before Thanksgiving!!
