Back to School 2014

We got up bright and early this morning! I COOKED a breakfast for the kids of eggs and turkey sausage and fruit. That was just a first day kinda thing. Don't get the wrong idea. I plan to make some make ahead breakfast burritos to serve with ease each morning. :) We usually do granola bars and fruit but that is likely going to be their daily snack to take to school. We dropped Greer off at school first and then we were headed in for our big morning. Daddy stuck around for drop-off this morning.
They couldn't have been more excited. First stop was Harrison's room.

He knows what kind of place he is going to and that he is going to be safe, loved, taught about Jesus, and encouraged to have fun. He was thrilled! It helps that Sophie is coming with. He LOVES Mama so every day last year he would tell me how much he wanted to stay home with me...until Mrs.W opened the van door in car line to get him out and he would jump out of the van like it was his job. We got another little photo with Ms.F and to his seat he went...

Sis gave him one last hug before it was time to be dropped off.

I got a quick picture of our big man sitting in his spot.

and a picture at circle time.
Ms.F's carpet is on the way, so they had to pretend they were sitting on a carpet!

Sophie all but ran down the rest of the hall to her room. We got her to stop for a quick picture...

She knew what to do before Mrs.W could even give her the pointers (think...LOTS of observation time from last year)

A quick squeeze for Mrs.W...

Some circle time action...

Mrs.W did a great job as she was helping all of her new friends understand how the class works. Sophie was so ready. Girlfriend was IN.THE.ZONE and didn't need any direction. I giggle just thinking about it. I am so excited for her. Last year was SUCH a build up and she has been looking forward to this moment.

I love that there is a little girl who is Asian-American in her class with her. Just a little someone to "match" with...

A little silly posing before we headed out...

I came back in a couple of hours later and saw that she was the last one putting finishing touches to her second picture...she takes her creations seriously...

Proud of her whipping out her name on that paper like a boss :)

She looked over and saw me holding the camera and she flashed that million dollar smile...

I had forgotten to get a picture in the morning so they were more interested in running down the hallway than posing with Mama, but we got a little something on our way out...

We went to a favorite lunch spot of theirs and had a little celebratory lunch with friends!

Then we headed home and started a new after school check list system that will be so necessary for me to keep up with two tote bags, two snack bags, two uniforms, two pairs of uniform shoes, two....well, you get the idea! They did great and then had a short rest. I am going to make the after school checklist system more official since it's just drawn out on paper to start and then I will share. It was a great first day and we are all ready to head back tomorrow! It's going to be a great year of loving our friends, obeying our teacher, having fun, and growing in Christ...the best combination!

Wow. You look great!!!!

Emery starts prek on 9/9 and this momma is going to have such a hard time. I am thankful she is going to a Christian school where everything is pointed to Jesus!!!
