Celebrating 1yr With the Twins~Atlanta style!

We decided to head back from Florida the Friday afternoon after Thanksgiving. We knew it would be best to take a break half way of the 9 hour trip. The celebration of the twins being with us for a year was the following Sunday so we wanted to celebrate as a family early. We would be doing church and Brandon's family Thanksgiving on the actual day. Atlanta has an awesome aquarium AND Ikea (that was more for me). So we headed that way on Friday in enough time to squeeze in dinner and a short shipping trip at IKEA before going to our hotel and getting up to go to the aquarium the next day.
First stop Ikea. The kids were awesome on the car ride and for our 2 hours at IKEA! A round of $1 ice cream cones for all...

Next stop our hotel...

Brandon's sister has a new friends and family discount at any Marriott. We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott in downtown Atlanta for less than $50!! It was awesome. We sent her pictures to show her the great place she got us a deal on

We pretty much got the kids to sleep and got ready for our fun the next day. Dunkin Donuts was our first stop. We were sad to all get out and go in only to find people that weren't eating filling every seat. So, we took our breakfast show on the road.

{notice H's brand new carpet burn spot from the carpet in our hotel room... He did that right before we left}

I love to google things and prepare the kids for them ahead of time. The Atlanta aquarium has a Dolphin show, Dolphin Tales.

It's like a broadway show with dolphins and their trainers as the focus of the show. I googled dolphins to refresh the kids memories of what to expect. I showers then dozens of them and other aquarium fish and such. They were super excited as they anticipated seeing all of them. 1st glance of a real dolphin as we were on our way into the show.

Our show time was as soon as we arrived. I am pretty sure we did the grand finale first. It was so so good! Way better tha I was expecting. We couldn't take pictures but we got one of us after ...

The aquarium was PACKED. So we did what we could where we could. Our stroller wasn't an option with the crowds. We were glad to have our carrier, Greer wasn't so excited about it lol!

I love Harrison and Brandon's faces here.

Getting them to sit tight for a picture was laughable ;)

The aquarium tunnel you ride through was great. Probably would have done that more than once if we had more time.

The 3D movie was fun!

Next to to the dolphins, the Beluga whales were the most awesome!!

It was an amazing aquarium. For a 1st visit it was perfect. We were able to see all of it, just not stay put in one place long with the crowds. We hope to go back in the future when we can go at a less crowded time and really take the details in. The kids weren't too into the details at this point anyhow. It was a great stop on our way home and something all of us enjoyed doing together. With our schedules we have to take ad stance of things when we can and this worked out to be a very impromptu and exciting stop as we passed right through Atlanta anyway! What a great way to celebrate the twins 1st year with us in a unique way!

Next stop... Home sweet home
