He is Faithful

Dearest Harrison,

OH.MY.SWEET.GOODNESS, today you turned 1.YEAR.OLD. I have soooo been in denial about this. It's been kind of hard to be that way though with meeting so many people who want to know how old you are. This week, I have been forced to admit that you would be 12 months/1 year old TODAY!

I can not let myself revel in the desire to deny this milestone for long because we have so much to celebrate as this day has snuck up on us. You see, your were born at 28 weeks 1 year ago today. You were just at 2lbs. You had a fight ahead of you. The things that we were told the doctors and nurses said about your probability to make it OUT of the hosptial...let alone into a baby home...let alone to America...let alone pretty much perfectly healthy and on target developmentally...let alone thriving in your new home, family, church, and community!! Oh, HE IS FAITHFUL.

I pleaded with our Lord to have us together as a family before this special day and HE WAS SO FAITHFUL to answer our prayer and we are SO thankful!

You have been home with us for less than a month and and it didn't take long at all for us to realize what a perfect blessing and beautiful compliment you are to our family. HE IS FAITHFUL.

You LOVE your mamma, your dada, your sleep, your fingers in your mouth, your paci, your blanky, sleeping in your crib for naps & bed time, crawling, pulling up, jumping, busting pilate like moves on the living room floor, squash baby food, blueberry apple baby food, gerber puffs, being scared, being tossed in the air, being tickled, being rocked in your rocking chair, strings/ribbons/chords, Mrs.Connie (our head hancho most lovable secretary at church) your baba, Praise Baby/Baby Einstein DVD's, to touch mama and dada's faces, to be called by your Chinese name, oh and the list goes on. HE IS FAITHFUL.

Several times this week we have caught one anothers eye. I'll smile at you and you flash the biggest complimentary toothy grin on your face to match the smile on mine. Oh, we both know it, don't we? This lesson of the Lord being Faithful is a huge one that your daddy and I have REALLY learned through your short year of life. I can only dream of the lessons he has in store for our families future.

Harrison, you are so strong and you are quite lovable. I whisper over you several times a day the verse that we have claimed for you. The Lord has a hand on you and we have so much to hope for. Your mommy and daddy have come to the quick realization that we can not be everything to everyone, but if we're going to be everything to anyone or anything it is going to be to our family, to you. You are our first so it looks like we'll be figuring out a lot of things through your sweet presence in our family. Just know that we are your # 1 fans. Here's to many more years of us on the front row and as acting president & VP of your fan club!!

P.S - Today was a crazy day, but tomorrow, mommy and daddy have set aside a day to really do this 1st birthday thing right!! It will be a celebration filled with thanksgiving!!
