1st....the papers have landed!! They are at our agency and are being overnighted to us! We'll get them tomorrow afternoon and hubby will get them all notarized & county/state certified on Friday. He works close to downtown Nashville and with a notary so this is super convenient! We should have our paperwork back to our agency by Monday!
2nd...a friend of mine gave me some great advice when she had her babies. When pregnant, she bought a package of diapers on each trip to the grocery to prepare for her little ones diaper consumption. I plan to begin doing that soon...with coupons too!
So I wanted your opinion......
Pampers or Huggies for our little guy?? A great majority of our friends use Pampers, but I have seen several Huggies babies lately and they seem so comfy and to be made well!! I am also super excited about the new overnight diapers. Those will be great for our plane rides with our little one. I hear of so many diaper blowouts when babies are making their way to their forever homes on those airplanes. Maybe these new diapers will help! I think Pampers and Huggies are making them.
Also, if you like an off brand diaper, I am not opposed to those at all. I just want to make sure I think I am saving and then just ending up using double the diapers because of the quality.

We buy Huggies but also the Babies R Us brand ones too...they are Especially For Baby brand but make sure to get the supreme. They are only $25 per mega box. These are the only ones my daughter can sleep in at night...the BRUS brand that is! Maybe we'll try the overnight diapers too:)
i am such a diaper snob!! i love, LOVE pampers...they are hands down the best! however, i prefer the huggies pullups when they get to the potty training stage.
i received a bag of target brand diapers at a shower and they are pretty good. i have not checked out the price difference, but it is worth asking around to see what others think. i have not had one leak yet with them (and they are cute polka dots!). but, my one complaint is that they shift a lot more than then pampers swaddlers/cruisers. seems like the little guy's cheeks are sometimes hanging out of the target brand :)
oh, and you should check out diapers.com. i have heard they have good prices...but have never checked it out. they have a $5 off diapers/formula coupon on the home page right now and they always have free shipping on $49 or more.
We like Huggies! Pampers just don't fit our little guy as well...they always seem droopy. But I'm sure every baby is different.
Luvs. Luvs all the way. Our little guy can produce vast amounts of pee and I have never ever had a leak in 15 months. Truly. Check them out. Way less bulky and way less expensive. (oh, and we tried Target brand and were super disappointed -- like cardboard)
yeah for progress!! my advice on the diaper thing is just to try em all and figure out what works best for Harrison, buy whats on sale and use your coupons. I stocked up on ALL Pampers before we got Grayden but there was a huge size gap bewtween NB size and size 1 so we switched to Huggies and like those just as much and they are cheaper and have more coupons available! good luck, i am sure you will find what works for your sweet guy!
Pampers!
I have tried everything and Pampers work the best!
Well....you and your sisters wore Huggies!!! But now I have heard that Target brand is good but they have polka dots all over them.
You will have to try out different kinds as each baby is different and some brands will fit better than others. Huggies are excellent for the newborn size, most hospitals use those. Plus they just have a great elastic leg that keeps leaks in. Luv's are also good and are cheaper. I was never a big fan of Pamper's personally. But for our 2 year old I am cheap and I buy the Parent's Choice ones from Walmart. Not the best made diaper, but they are the cheapest!
OK, so we do mostly cloth (in our gDiapers) BUT, when needed, I love Huggies. They are my favorite disposable. None of the off brands can hold River's pee...and none of the brands in Vietnam could either, so take some good ones for those plane rides. You will definitely be having those blowouts you keep reading about :)
My best advice is to use the diapers you pack in your luggage for the plane rides only, but use the Taiwan-bought diapers while in country. That saves you a lot of room in your luggage and since you will be able to change frequently while still in country, I think it works out great. That's what we did. Happy shopping!
Have you tried the organic diapers that MCKmama uses? You should at least give cloth diapering a try. If you did a little research, you would seriously be APPALLED at how many landfills are filled with disposable diapers. I was not educated with my twins (now 11 years old), but when my daughter came around, I switched. I felt good doing m little part.
We tried Huggies, but our little guy was contsantly leaking! So, we switched to Pampers and have not had one problem. We have boxes of Luvs (given to us by others), but haven't opened them yet.
I love Papmers swaddlers/cruisers and Huggies wipes. I switched to Luvs when the boys got older- they work great too. In my experience, Huggies always ripped and didn't hold much. I order mine through amazon.com.
Good luck! :)
We always used Pampers with the girls. LOVE them. But I've heard that huggies are better for boys.
And don't forget - you'll be having a huge diaper dump for this little one and a baby shower!!
Huggies were the ones that worked best for my boys. For some reason, I really wanted to use Pampers (tried to be a "diaper snob" like Angie above, I guess - ha!) but they didn't cut it for my fellas...always had trouble with them tee-teeing out the tops (especially at night) but not with the Huggies.
I guess it's really just trial and error. We used Huggies on our daughter and we Loved...Loved them so I stocked up with these for our son. When he came home from the hospital we had lots of wet onesies in the tummy area... But we ended up switching to Pampers and NO MORE LEAKS! Honestly, I think you can't go wrong with eiher diaper brand...so get what you have coupons for. We buy ours at Sam's in BULK, but you can't use your coupons there, I think. Praying for you and your family! Marci in TN
We like Pampers, but have found that Luvs work just as well and are a little cheaper for us!
Yay! I'm so excited that you have your papers....I know the waiting game is terrible! As far as diapers, I wanted to use Pampers, but I have both. So far, I've only used the Pampers and I love them! However, I have heard that little boys do better w/ Huggies AND you can always find coupons for Huggies....never for Pampers! Good luck!
I'm a Pampers fan myself - they just seem to fit my daughter better. They're softer and less bulky, too.
I say Luvs, Luvs, Luvs too. I used pampers and huggies with my first child who has very sensitive skin. The huggies always leaked! I started using Luvs on her once when I had ran out of the pampers and have used them since with my other kids! And Congratulations on your adoption! We'll be following the journey!
We are a huggies family all the way. I've tried Pampers, and I just don't care for them. I find them thin and they don't keep Reed dry. We are hoping to potty train Reed soon, but we plan to do the same as you! Jeff always takes advantage of diaper sales at CVS, plus coupons. So, we'll keep buying and saving them for #2. I've tried Parents Choice and Target brand, too, and I don't care for either. It apparently is a personal choice, though, because my friend uses Pampers and loves them.
Forgot to add we purchased diapers in Taiwan, and they worked GREAT. I would recommend purchasing there, because diapers take up a lot of space!
We were given every brand/off brand you can think of and Pampers swaddlers are our fav. Huggies leaked terribly with Brady! I would pick him up out of the crib and everything would be soaked with huggies! We used the pampers at night and if we were out and used the others during the day or at the babysitters and just check them often! I use diapers.com often and pampers.com as well.
Oh and pampers.com will send coupons
We tried pampers with our oldest son, and he broke out in a rash. We have since used huggies - I even brought them to the hospital when I had our daughter and son instead of using the pampers that is provided. Pampers has a lot of fragrance and huggies doesn't.
Target brand baby boy diapers are super cheap, VERY cute with polka dots and we have NEVER had a leak. Congrats on the papers!
So fun to see everyone's opinions! Good Luck deciding. As you know we are Pampers all the way. Tried others but they didn't work or were too crunchy. Now to add to your decisions...what about WIPES? We do Pampers wipes too. Huggies seem to have an alcohol smell to me.
Yeah for paperwork! Hurry home Harrison!!!
I like huggies. We like pampers, too, but prefer huggies. We bought diapers each time we went to the store, too and it is a great help. We also would buy 1 can of formula and 1 pack of diaper wipes.
Honestly, it will totally depend on Harrison.
I have 3 kids & used about 5 different kinds of diapers over the course of the (combined) 7.5 years of diaper-wearing they did.
We started out in Huggies with my oldest, but later switched to cheapie Walmart brand diapers only to have her break out into a diaper rash when we used them. After that little issue we switched to Luvs, but occasionally bought Pampers if they were on sale.
With our 2nd kiddo, we started out in Luvs & preferred them, but ended up using Pampers before it was all over.
With our 3rd, we had a "diaper shower" before she was born and had so many different brands/types that we used whatever we could get our hands on when we reached into the diaper closet. As she grew, we settled into Pampers, but only b/c they (at the time) were the only ones who made a "case" of diapers. And with 2 babies in diapers, we had to buy them in bulk!
With each one of the kids, we had to adjust to what fit the shape of their body best & what didn't make them get a rash. It was different for each one of them. We did end up in Pampers at the end for each one of them, but that was purely coincidental, not because they're any better than any of the others.
Sorry...that's probably NO help at all, huh?
Oh...one more thing.
Don't ever give in & buy the cheapy knock-off brands. EVERY single time I was fed up w/ expensive diaper prices & bought some cheap no-name diaper, I regretted it. They ALL leaked sooooooooo bad!
Wow, all Mommies are so ready to tell our diaper stories!! I also purchased a pack of diapers at every grocery visit before Will was born. It was a HUGE help! I recommend that you keep the receipts though. I invested in Pampers Swaddlers at the advice of friends, but when he was born, the hospital used Huggies Natural Care. We liked those alot better. So I went and exchanged all my swaddlers!!! After he was a bit bigger, we tried Luvs. They are a bit cheaper, and they worked great, for a while. When he got bigger and changed over to whole milk, he started leaking at night. So, we got Huggies overnights, and they worked great. Right now we are using Pampers Baby Dry. I found great coupons for them, and they don't leak for us at night so we don't have to buy the overnights. I think it is all trial and error. You will soon discover what works best for you and your sweet baby boy! Congrats girly!!
LUVS LUVS LUVS.
better than any other brand. seriously. :)
I really like the Pampers diapers but have just started a pack of Huggies and I like them as well. We also just finished a pack of Luvs - hated them! Also for wipes I like the Huggies wipes over the Pampers (them seem to dry out way too quick while in the container)
Huggies...hands down. Pampers tend to smell like urine...maybe it's me. We have tried the Wal-Mart brand and others and always come back to Huggies. And all diapers leak if you leave them on too long! (at night) Try a few and see what you like. My youngest is super chubby so Huggies are also the only ones that don't give her a rash. Have fun choosing!
Costco brand - Kirkland. :)
I know this is going to sound silly! My sister uses only pampers for her little girl Pampers, but I've nannied for twin boys and you can use the cheap non brand diapers from Wal-mart or whatever you have a coupon for if you just change them regularly or whenever they are wet/dirty. Cloth diapers work well too - I'm used them with kids I've nannied for over the years. Good luck and I'm sure you'll find the right brand for Harrison!
Huggies hands down!! Trey was in them for years!!! oh yeh, I was the one who said he'll be potty trained by the time he's two...then one and one-half year later finally the dream came true at three and one-half years old! Anyways, thank God for Huggies....they are the best for lil boys if ya know what I mean. Well, I guess you're gonna find out:)
