Many of you have asked how my 1st week back to school has been and I am so glad you asked!! It truly has been wonderful. I am 3 hours away from Junior status toward an Early Childhood Education Degree so, I do have some classes and experience under my belt! I am so thrilled that I am starting back with this course though. It is Educational Psychology and it is only a 3 week summer course! The class is from 8a-12p and I don't get bored or stare at my watch. I love the content! We are talking about learning styles, classroom management styles, and the different people who have had a great impact on education.
I especially love that I won't even be attending class at the University this week instead we'll (myself and my classmates) be getting 20 hours of field experience. We are one of the 1st classes to pilot a program that our university is trying to test out as a possibility for student teacher placements in the future. This program is called co-teaching. Co-teaching is a program that strongly encourages the student and the cooperating teacher to work together to plan lessons as well as teach them! This method has proven to be very effective in several universities across the U.S. So, tomorrow, I'll enter into a classroom with my cooperating KINDERGARTEN (can you tell I LOVE Kindergarten?!?!)teacher, we'll pick a co-teaching strategy and start on the lesson planning! I met with my teacher last week and she let me know that they were doing an Ocean theme this upcoming week! I got a little surprise guest for the class. I plan to introduce him to the class by giving clues. So, let's see if you can guess who the classes surprise guest will be for the week. Here are the clues.
1. I can live on the bottom of the ocean or on land.
2. I am nocturnal - rest during the day and work and play at night.
3. I like to climb so it's good to have something for me to do that on, in my cage.
4. There are over 500 different kinds of me around the earth.
5. I eat apples, bananas, corn meal, peanut butter, veggies, fruits, and my special chow.
6. I have 10 legs!
7. I live inside of a shell!
I am a

Tuesday - off to school at 7am, library for work afterwards to get ahead before I go on a girls trip this weekend, Pampered Chef party that evening!
Wednesday- School, Spray Tan for girls weekend, Pack for girls weekend, Finish any last minute details for school, Probably won't make it to church!!
Thursday- Drive Hannah to work so I can pick her up and leave right after school and work for girls trip!!, School, Co-Teach "THE" lesson plan, Wait for Hannah to get off while working on lesson plan, pick up Hannah and head out of town!!
P.S. I went into the teachers store here in town for the 1st time today, and I was in heaven. Puzzles, books, bulletin board stuff, puppets....galore!! It was amazing! I got a frequent customer punch card cause, I'll be frequenting there as I gain more classroom time! I spent about 15 minutes alone staring at all of the calendar options. I love that part of kindergarten. Anyone remember these? Each morning the teacher and class will review the day, month, year, weather, etc.

i was an ECE major and we did LOTS of field experience as a requirement for our major. it was really fun and made learning so much more interesting...and practical!
by the time we were student teaching, we were so comfortable teaching because we had already been in so many classrooms!

You are going to be the most amazing teacher ever!
And man, I think of how much all of this is going to help you be better prepared for mommidom.
Hey- Jada is getting rid of her hamster, if you need another classroom pet!
I guessed it!!! Then again, you told me when I saw you Sunday, lol.
Feel free to brings friends with you on Tuesday if you want to. If there aren't many there we have a lot of chocolate to eat out of that fountain! :)
You are going to be an AWESOME teacher! I share in your affinity for calendars =)!
You make me want to go back to Kindergarden! It sounds like you are having so much fun going back to school! Jill is right, if you want a hamster just let me know and it will be yours!!!
No hampsters ladies. Have you not seen the last few posts. Right now we have Two cats, Two Dogs, and a Super Hermit. Thats like really close to 300lbs and 26 legs to share our little space with.
Hey! Haven't dropped you a comment in a while so thought I would tonight. We're in the process of buying and selling houses right now, so it's kind of crazy.
As a veteran hermit crab owner, one thing you have to try if you haven't already is peanut butter - they LOVE it. Smear a little on the back or a ritz cracker and just put it in the cage.
I'm with ya girl. I teach preschool & I have so much fun hanging out in our local teacher's store!
How cute :) I want to retire and have this kind of fun!
i got it!! woohoo! am i as smart as a 5 year old! good luck this week!
Congratulations on going back to school. I'm very excited for you. I know it is a big decision and one you'll be glad you made. I know I enjoyed taking classes (not the homework so much). There is just something about being on a college campus that gives you hopes and dreams of what is to come. Best wishes and good luck!
My husband cringes everytime I go in our teacher store. It's really hard for me to just stick to what I need and not what I want. Kind of an addiction. :)
