Remember Carlton from Fresh Prince of Belaire?? Well, he had this ridiculously funny dance move where he snapped and swayed his head and neck?? Ok, so just keep that in mind for a minute.
Well, I clicked on the link in THIS post at Beth Moore's blog yesterday (everyone should check in there often...fun as well inspiring). Then, I found that they had compiled an awesome list of workout music. Remember when I asked for some help a few months ago? I got a little but nothing like the list I found there. When I say a list, I copied the comment, that the link referred to, and brought it into a Word document...only to have 7 pages to print out. I took it straight home after work and had hubby help me download several of the songs onto my ipod from the list.
Last night, we went out for our 1st official 1/2 marathon training run. We ran 1.5 miles and will do so twice more this week. Then, we will go for a long 3-4 mile (depends on our endurance) Saturday with a larger group of friends that we plan to meet with each weekend to do long runs with. This group will help to hold us accountable to do our shorter runs throughout the week. We are totally excited!! I am even more excited that Brandon and I are doing this together.
Well, I say WE are excited. You see, this is where the Quick Carlton part comes in. I never knew what the power of good music can do to a run. If I would have thought about it, I would have put the slower songs at the beginning. Instead, I started out with the song Long As I got King Jesus by CeCe Winans...oh my goodness!! That song will pump you up and make you run fast. It makes you wanna snap your fingers and pump your fist in the air too(similar to Carlton). Brandon was SO embarrassed (even though it was dark) by my jogaerobics that he stayed a full 15 feet ahead of me at all times. I ran much faster than normal though and was exhausted at the .75 mile part due to how quickly I paced myself with the music. It was quite fun regardless. When I got really tired at about the 1.25 mile mark I just put that song on again and it inspired me to keep going (Long as I got King Jesus).
Well, that's all for now. My next post will be the big 100. Anyone have any suggestions on how to celebrate it??

We're doing the 1/2 marathon this year! My very, very first!
We will be officially registering next week. Because with $75 down, you better believe my booty will be running!
Hopefully I can get the rest of this baby weight + a few pounds down by April!
I was nowhere near 15 ft. If you had not been yelling at me to wait for you I would have been a quarter mile ahead of you. :) You all don't even know. It was bad. There were people stopping to see what was going on. She could not tell how loud she was singing/yelling. Honestly it was great, and it was the most fun I've had running. This goes out to all the husbands... Want some motivation to run, or need to run faster. Give your wife an IPod. Luv you wifey. And the 100 post sounds fitting for what I mentioned to you today. Keep it a secret though until the post.
Hahahaha. Do you watch Friends? I'm picturing you being like Phoebe and your husband being mortified like Rachel was! Gotta love that show. :)
Haha I love listening to music while I am working out, and well my husband is usually no where to be found (maybe I am singing/yelling loudly as well)! I so have a "work out list" it helps! I cannot wait to see the 100th post now...
You make me laugh. I could just picture you dancing like Carlton on Fresh Prince of Bel Air. If you lived closer, I might have to join in the fun since Jim is doing the full marathon. I don't think I'd do the half, but starting to run with a friend would be fun...if I could only find my iPod!! It got lost after our first trip to Russia--at our house! That's really bad, I know.
Hmmmm...100th post...100 promises to Marlee? 100 ways to say I Love You? What is Brandon's idea? I'm dying to know!
That is awesome!!! good for you, I am way too lazy to run that far. :)
You ran 1.5 miles! Whoa, I could never! Well, not without passing out!
