If we love our dog so much, what's going to happen when we have a little one running around?

Sooo, just in case no one's noticed, I'm a prefacer. In other words, there are many blog posts that I feel the need to preface. This post is no different. Long long ago..umm like 2 years ago, Brandon and I were house hunting. There were several things that I just HAD to have in a house. One of those things was a fence. Now, Brandon knew I wanted a fence but I am not sure if he put it all together. You see, my agenda was to get a dog. I knew that one of the perks of having our own home would be the freedom to have a pet or two. My Mom was not a big fan of dogs while I was growing up so I am just going to put this out there...I blame her for my overwhelming love of most animals. Love ya Mom! So, we got the house with most of the things that I HAD to have and some short comings but, the fence was not one of those. A couple of months after moving in, a coworker of mine offered me a dog. She was 4 years old, was fixed, knew basic commands, a dog house came with her as well as a free bag of food. So on the way home from work, I presented my plea to my husband. I said, "So, Just listen to everything I have to say before you say no." I continued with my plea for this sweet dog...And yes, she is already dawning the Christmas scarf. She is a lot like her mama. She loves Christmas :o) So, on with the story. Once Brandon agreed, (and it was meant to be because, it did not take as much persuading as I had planned for)we went the next day after work to pick up Mya. We soon discovered a new kind of love for our sweet dog Mya. She came home and we realized she was NOT an outside dog. Now, she is a big girl and sheds A LOT so, this was kind of hard for Brandon and I to agree on. We love our home and were not keen on the idea of black hairs all over everything. Although we had mixed feelings on whether or not to keep her inside, we did give in. She would bloody her nose every day we left her outside, while at work, in attempts to escape underneath our privacy fence. She would also just sit and fuss by the door if we put her out while at home. The very first night we had her, we put her outside while we slept and she was at our bedside to wake us up the next morning. Somehow, she had gotten our back door open. It did not take us long to determine...she is a smart one. So, over the last 1.5 years or so we have grown to love Mya more than most people can understand and so have many people that know us. She follows us everywhere we go, is not overly hyper, is very gentle with all the kids that ride her and pull on her, is the mascot for all our backyard Bible clubs at church, rarely has an accident in the house, and is just an all around good dog. A couple of nights ago (some of you will be shocked) I even caught Brandon giving Mya a little goodnight kiss on the head. (he will so die if he reads this) I said, "What was that?" as my heart smiled because I have always known he loves her more than he lets on. Now, I have never been one to hide the fact that I love our dog ridiculously. I have songs just for her and special sayings that she loves to hear and I can tells she does by her tale wags and smiles. Recently, my feelings were hurt by people commenting on how "fat" she is. Now, we know she is big, but not everyone has to say it ALL the time. I still stand by what my vet says, "She is a big boned breed." We feed her once a day and take her on walks daily as well. The time that I got upset, we were at a family cook out and everyone was commenting on it. I said, "ya'll better stop because I think I am fixing to cry." I then turned to Brandon and said, "If I get this emotional over a dog, what's gonna happen when we have kids?" As serious as can be, he looked at me and said, "Well, we better just hope she doesn't get fat." Then everyone just died laughing. (he was just teasing everyone) So anyway, that was my post prefacer for today. We love our dog and think she is the best...hey, even my Mom loves her. I do have a special feature below on what happened yesterday to cause me to reflect on this today.

You might love your dog a lot if...

You have plans of going to the post office, bank, to get lunch, to Home Depot, and then home to build this... But, before you even get to your first planned stop at the bank, you drive by this, stop right in your tracks, pull over, and find out what it is...So you change your plans, call your good friends who love their dog as much as you love yours, and invite them to come with...
then quickly get to the bank, post office, grab lunch, head home to take a shower so you look presentable to all of the other dog owners, and get to the Barkaroo before it is over at 3pm...Just so your dog can do a whole lot of this...Also, taking care of business while there, so her Dad will have to do this...
because she wouldn't dare follow her best dog friend Lucy and do anything like this...Then you end up deciding to call it a day after screaming loudly like a little girl because the skinny black and white dog smelling Mya in the picture below decides to attack her and husband has to jump in to split them up as the other 7 or 8 dogs around run to jump in...

So, the point of the story is, we did get a little done on the desk but decided to put out dogs happiness before the craft desk plans and spend a couple of hours at the Barkaroo. Brandon plans to work on the desk a little more today but it might be a little longer before it makes its debut on the blog.

Oh how I understand the love for your dog! That is how we ended up with 6 and 4 rabbits! My husband would adopt all the pets in the world if someone would let him! I hope that when we have children our love for our dogs will be not change and that our kids will love our dogs as much as we do! (By we are our in that last sentence I meant you and your husband as well as me and my husband)

I'm so right there with you!!! I know I've commented before on the "fat" thing; we have that problem with Lilly. To give a little insite, we've gone as far as putting Lilly on prescription dog food for 6 months for her to not even lose 1 pound!!! Our vet has given us some new ideas, but has also told us that it could simply be in her genes. Some dogs, like people, are genetically set up to be fat. Even if its not true, its a good excuse! Both of our dogs are rescue dogs and we spoil them rotten, and I sympathize with your "what if" thoughts regarding kids... I do it all the time!! And before I go... I want you to know that I adore Mya and I've never even met her!!!

Hey girl! Thank you so much for the prayers... I wish I could explain how much they mean!!!! John has done much better over the weekend, and is hoping to get back to work tomorrow. We are praying for every one in the Vietnam program right now and I know how scared you are!!! I have faith in CHI as well, but one bad agency can affect the entire program. Just try to remember that God's plan is the best, but is not always the easiest. If you ever need to talk you should have my email from when we bought the shirts... which, btw, we love and wear all the time!!! I feel so blessed to have "met" you and can't wait to see your beautiful Marlee!!!!

You're too funny! I am not a bit surprised that you took Mya to Barkaroo. You are going to be the best Mommy to Marlee. Both of your girls are very lucky :O)

I LOVE this blog!!! My dog is my baby, and I take him everywhere with me! I wanted to bring him up next week, but of course, Stacey gets everything first, and decided to bring her little one! I'm sure she'll be dressed to impress, while sitting with me in the back for the long 8 hour drive. :) Little stinker! Love you!
